Research Interests

Our group uses Bose-Einstein Condensates as atomic interferometers. These ultra-cold atoms serve as sensitive detectors and allow for precise measurements in a number of areas. Future plans include looking into the A.C. Stark effect in Rubidium by shining a laser on just one of the packets. Also, we plan on revisiting a measurement of gravity done here in the past, where the separate packets are bounced independently, resulting in a measurable phase difference between them. With a second interferometer setup being put together, which utilizes cylindrical symmetry as opposed to the current linear symmetry, we will be able to look at a wider range of potential measurements and applications.
