DESCRIPTION:Vladyslav Ivanov \, LENS\n\nWe present manipulations of a cloud
of cold Sr 88 atoms in a vertical optical lattice potential.
In particular we observe a resonant broadening of the atomic cloud by mod
ulating the phase or the amplitude of the lattice potential. This broadeni
ng is caused by a resonant tunneling of an atomic wave functions between l
attice cites. The width of the resonance spectra is determined only by the
Fourier limit due to the absence of decoherence. This is experimentally c
onfirmed up to 15 s of the modulation time. The small linewidth allows us
to measure the local gravity with a sensitivity of 10 -6 g.\n
We demonstrate stretching of an atomic wave function over a distance of 1
mm.\nThen atomic wave function can be refocused in controlled way\, to a s
ize close to initial.\n
