ABSTRACT:
The Main Injector Neutrino Oscillation Search (MINOS) experiment
recently completed its first year of exposure to the NuMI neutrino beam.
In this run muon neutrinos produced at Fermilab near Chicago were
directed 734.3km through the Earth to the 5,400 ton MINOS far detector
located a half mile underground in the Soudan Underground Laboratory in
northern Minnesota. This talk will describe the performance of the NuMI
neutrino and the MINOS detectors during this initial run and will
include presentation of preliminary data from this initial data run.
