Extreme mass ratio inspirals (EM RIs) are expected to be a key source of gravitational waves for the LISA m ission. In order to extract the maximum amount of information from EMRI ob servations by LISA\, it is important to have an accurate prediction of the expected waveforms. In particular\, it will be necessary to have waveform s that incorporate effects that appear at second order in the mass ratio. In this talk I will present the latest progress towards this goal\, includ ing recent results for the second-order gravitational-wave energy flux and for the gravitational waveform.
