span style="font-size:medium">Direct experimental evidence for point-like
constituents in the nucleons
\nwas first found in the electron deep i
nelastic scattering (DIS) experiment.
\nThe discovery of the valence
and sea quark structures in the nucleons
\ninspired the formulation o
f Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) as the gauge field
\ntheory governing
the strong interaction. A surprisingly large asymmetry
\nbetween the
up and down sea quark distributions in the nucleon was observed
\nin
DIS and the so-called Drell-Yan experiments. In this talk\, I discuss the<
br />\ncurrent status of our knowledge on the flavor structure of the nucl
eon sea.
\nI will also discuss the progress in identifying the "\
;intrinsic"\; sea
\ncomponents in the nucleons. Future prospect f
or detecting some novel
\nsea-quark distributions will also be presen
ted.
