I w
ill discuss the topological and geometric aspects of optical
\nand tr
ansport phenomena in metals with nontrivial band geometry\, and outline
\nthe full theory of linear-in-q contribution to the non-local conducti
vity in
\na disordered metal. Physical applications of the theory inc
lude the natural
\noptical activity of metals and the dynamic chiral
magnetic effect\, as well
\nas the kinetic magnetoelectric effect/the
current-induced magnetization in
\nmetallic systems. The theory is s
imilar in spirit to the one of the
\nanomalous Hall effect in metals\
, and can be used for the analysis of the
\ntypical optical and trans
port measurements (e.g. Faraday rotation\,
\ncurrent-induced magnetiz
ation) in the THz frequency range.
